Mataram (ANTARA) - The Mataram City Tourism Service in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province confirmed to have readied a centralized quarantine facility for the World Superbike (WSBK) motorcycle racing spectators that were identified positive for COVID-19.

The World Superbike championship will be held on November 19-21, 2021, at the Mandalika Circuit, in Lombok, NTB.

"If needed, we are ready to facilitate centralized quarantine for WSBK spectators," Head of the Mataram City Tourism Service H. Nizar Denny Cahyadi stated on Friday.

Two hotels that earlier served as emergency hospitals for COVID-19 -- Hotel Nutana and Fizz, with a capacity of 40 beds each -- could be used as a centralized quarantine facility for WSBK spectators. The two hotels are no longer operating as emergency hospitals since COVID-19 cases in the region had declined.

"However, it also depends on the request from the WSBK committee, and at least we had prepared for it," Cahyadi remarked.

On the other hand, he could not as yet confirm the number of people to be quarantined since the rapid antigen test will be conducted on the racing day before spectators enter the circuit.

"However, in principle, we are ready and even added another hotel, Grand In Hotel, which earlier served as a quarantine center for mild COVID-19 patients, with a capacity of 52 rooms" he noted.

To support the WSBK, Mataram City has readied 4,077 rooms, comprising 1,300 rooms for Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMNT) for quarantine of the employees and 2,777 rooms for other necessities.

A total of 2,777 rooms include rooms of the three hotels that earlier served as emergency COVID-19 and quarantine hospitals -- the Nutana, Fizz and Grand In Hotels -- which are now operating normally.

"However, when the WSBK committee needs spectator quarantine facilities, we are ready to provide them," he added.
