(AI), Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics, Nezar Patria, said.

"'Policy' emphasizes the importance of security, justice, and inclusivity elements," he informed, according to a press statement issued by the ministry here on Friday.

According to him, "platform" is about the need to create an inclusive AI ecosystem through collaboration between platforms.

Meanwhile, the "people" aspect focuses on empowering the community through capacity development, he added.

He conveyed this while delivering the keynote speech at the Indonesia AI Conference 2024 in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Patria said that although Indonesia does not have a specific regulation on AI application yet, for now, the existing general and sectoral regulations can guarantee legal certainty on AI.

The regulations he referred to include Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE Law) and its amended provisions, Law Number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection (PDP Law), and the ministry's Circular Letter on AI Ethics.

The deputy minister argued that the use of AI in cloud computing can help accelerate research, grow creativity, improve customer service, and increase productivity and efficiency in data analysis.

"Cloud technology, AI, Internet of Things (IoT), and (data) analytics are essential and the foundation of digital strategy," he said.

For instance, he explained, AI has revolutionized diagnosis and expanded telemedicine capabilities in the health sector, as well as improved fraud protection and risk management in the financial sector.

He said that AI governance must be based on knowledge transfer so that Indonesia and other developing countries can actively participate in the global AI supply chain, not just as users.
