Govt targets $16.5 bln in transactions at TEI 2025

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Ministry of Trade aims to achieve transactions worth US$16.5 billion at the 40th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2025.

During the expo’s launch in Jakarta on Thursday, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso noted that the target has been raised by 10 percent from last year’s goal of US$15 billion.In 2024, TEI recorded transactions totaling US$22.73 billion, far exceeding the target.

The 40th TEI, scheduled for October 15–19, aims to attract 30,000 visitors and 5,000 buyers. Last year, the event drew 41,488 visitors. Santoso stated that the government is committed to expanding global market access and strengthening Indonesia’s image as a competitive and innovative player in international trade.

He emphasized that the event must be utilized by business players, particularly micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), to showcase their products.

“To ensure that more potential products from across Indonesia are exhibited at the trade expo, we will conduct participant selection in collaboration with ministries and institutions,” Santoso said.

At the same event, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto projected that TEI 2025 could generate US$25 billion in transactions, given that the 2024 event surpassed its target.

He expressed hope that TEI transactions would help boost national foreign exchange reserves and support Indonesia’s goal of achieving 8 percent economic growth.
