Jakarta (ANTARA) - Metropolitan city of Jakarta needs lots of investors and international buyers to realize its global city vision, the Indonesian Shopping Center Tenants Association (Hippindo) has said.

"We believe that Jakarta, with all of its facilities, needs lots of investors and international buyers to come to do business," Hippindo chairperson Budihardjo Iduansjah said at the Jakarta International, Investment, Trade, Tourism & SME Expo (JITEX) 2024 here on Wednesday.Amid the uncertain global situation, support to strengthen domestic trade is important, he added.

He praised the Jakarta provincial government for holding the trade expo and showcasing local and micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) products. The JITEX 2024 is being held from August 7–11.

JITEX 2024 includes an exhibition of local products and innovation as well as business matching activities to attract foreign and domestic buyers and thereby, bolster economic growth.

Iduansjah said he hopes that the exhibition will help make local products become known and compete at the international level.

"We support the 'Buy Indonesian-Made,' where we want to make local products recognized in overseas (markets)," he added.

Through the event, it is hoped that international visitors can get a good impression of Jakarta, which remains Indonesia's trade and economic center, he said.

Furthermore, Hippindo, together with the Jakarta Office of Industry, Trade, Co-operatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM), unveiled the "Made in Jakarta" logo, which will be put on both MSME and non-MSME products made in Jakarta.

"We will prepare a Made in Jakarta corner in retail (centers). We want all provinces to participate in this. Maybe there will be Made in Aceh, Made in Papua, and so on," Iduansjah informed.

On the same occasion, PPKUKM Office head Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo said that the Made in Jakarta program is a form of support for MSMEs to go global and export their products.
