Jakarta (ANTARA) - Preparations for the return flow of this year’s Eid homecoming have been carefully carried out to ensure the safety and smoothness of the trip, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), stated on Tuesday.

AHY explained that all relevant ministries and institutions continue to work together in monitoring and preparing for both the homecoming and return flows.

“We will continue to monitor and remain on alert,” he said.

The Ministry of Transportation has designed special strategies to reduce congestion, which often occurs during the return flow period, with the aim of increasing the comfort of homecoming travelers.

“Based on our monitoring, the system is working well,” AHY noted.

The peak of the return flow is estimated to occur between April 6 and April 7, but AHY hopes that the strategies implemented will help regulate traffic flow effectively before and after the peak dates.

He emphasized that the success of managing the return flow of Eid homecoming highly depends on solid coordination between ministries and agencies, as well as continuous monitoring to ensure any obstacles are addressed quickly.

With the right strategies and maximum readiness, AHY hopes that the return flow can provide safety and comfort for travelers returning to their cities after celebrating Eid in their hometowns.

Earlier, Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi stated that the government had prepared sufficient transportation facilities and infrastructure to support the smooth running of Eid homecoming flows, including 30,451 buses, 772 ships, 404 aircraft, and 2,550 trains.

In addition, ramp checks have been carried out to ensure that all vehicles are roadworthy and safe to operate.

At the same time, cross-sectoral coordination continues between relevant ministries and institutions, including the military (TNI), the National Police (Polri), regional governments, and transportation businesses.
