Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police (Polri) has deployed five vessels along key national routes and prepared joint personnel to anticipate potential emergency situations in waters during the 2026 Eid homecoming period.Deputy National Police Chief, Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, said the preparedness reflects Polri’s commitment to providing maximum protection to the public through measured anticipatory steps and rapid response in the field.
“We do not expect it, but contingency plans for emergency situations, including water accidents, have been prepared,” Prasetyo said while inspecting the Bakauheni Port security post in Lampung on Tuesday.
To strengthen security along national sea travel routes, five main vessels have been deployed at strategic points:
- KP BIMA – 7014 (Class A3) – Ketapang Port, East Java;
- KP KASTURI – 6002 (Class B1/B2) – Lembar Port, West Nusa Tenggara;
- KP MANYAR – 5003 (Class B2) – Gilimanuk Port, Bali;
- KP GELATIK – 5016 (Class B2) – Merak Port, Banten;
- KP GAGAK – 3011 (Class C1) – Bakauheni Port, Lampung.
These vessels have high operational capabilities, including speeds of up to 30 knots, endurance of up to 10 days, and are equipped with safety equipment to support patrols, initial search and rescue (SAR), and quick response to maritime emergencies.
As part of preparedness measures, 16 joint vessels and 320 personnel from the Indonesian Military (TNI), National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Water Police, Polri, and other maritime stakeholders have been deployed along the Merak-Bakauheni crossing.

Polri predicts an increase in homecoming traffic at several key ports, including Bakauheni Port, starting mid-March 2026, with peak flows expected on March 18-19. The return flow is projected on March 24-25 and March 28-29.
The police have advised the public to utilize the 110 emergency service if they encounter problems during the homecoming journey. All personnel have been instructed to prioritize quick response times to ensure reports are handled quickly and professionally.
