Jakarta (ANTARA) - Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani has emphasized that investment in sustainable energy projects is still a priority to support the 2029 target of 8 percent economic growth.He said that the government is committed to achieving net-zero emissions (NZE) by 2060, or even, expediting efforts to achieve it earlier by 2050.
"We believe that our growth of 8 percent is achievable by 2029, and at the same time, we also support sustainable investment, considering we have enormous potential for it," he added here on Wednesday.
"So, investment in clean and renewable energy is among the priorities that we want to carry out," he continued.

Currently, the potential for sustainable energy sources in Indonesia is around 3,700 gigawatts (GW). However, newly installed capacity is only 14.4 GW, or less than 1 percent.
Some of the biggest investment potential in sustainable energy lies in solar, hydro, bioenergy, wind, and geothermal projects.

"Geothermal is also very interesting because Indonesia is one of the largest reserves in the world for geothermal, especially in Java and Sumatra," Roeslani noted.
He affirmed that the use of sustainable energy will continue to be developed to achieve NZE.
"So, we are becoming a more open country, we are open for business, but at the same time, we are keeping reforming ourselves in terms of policy, in terms of regulation, so the investment that comes into Indonesia can run really well and have a positive impact on job creation, on Indonesia's economic growth, and of course, will lead to a better Indonesia in the future," he said.
