Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - Primary and Secondary Education Minister Abdul Mu’ti is planning to open vocational high schools that will offer a four-year learning program to prepare graduates to enter the job market and reduce the unemployment rate.
“The last year will be used to prepare them to enter the job market,” he told the press after a meeting with West Nusa Tenggara Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, on Monday.
He informed that, in addition to the four-year vocational high schools, the ministry is also preparing vocational high schools that will enter into direct partnerships with business units to allow students to establish employment relationships even before graduation.
Furthermore, he said that his ministry will develop vocational high schools that will collaborate with job training centers to provide skills certifications to students. According to the minister, these vocational high schools are expected to create a skilled workforce and reduce the unemployment rate in the country.

In addition, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is also offering a vocational high school program for those who have dropped out of school. For the first phase of the initiative, the ministry has readied one thousand seats for dropouts.

Meanwhile, West Nusa Tenggara Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal expressed his appreciation for the minister’s support in establishing vocational high schools in regions to alleviate poverty and joblessness.
