Indonesia's Kadin calls for govt, companies to pursue green industry

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of Indonesia's Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Bakrie, urged the government and private sector to collaborate on a green industry to achieve an energy transition and green economy.Bakrie stated here, on Saturday, during PYC International Energy Conference 2025 that green industry offers plethora of advantages, such as economic growth, job creations, environmental protection, and energy resilience.

"To support economic growth, we need new industries. Hence, green industries must be truly focused on, because it can attract investment," he noted.

Moreover, the green industry can spur new job vacancies, thereby increasing domestic consumption and improving the economy. Not only green industry beneficial in terms of environmental protection, he also highlighted the potential of investment it offers, plus potential of export to countries who share similar commitment in energy transition and green economy.

According to him, support for green industry can ensure that government spending or state budget allocation more effective and efficient. This is because orientation to green industry will drive a more development of more relevant infrastructure, he noted.

In the same occasion, Chairman of PYC Filda Citra Yusgiantoro, highlighted manpower and sustainable funding issues within quest for energy resilience, economic growth, and sustainable environment.

Yusgiantoro mentioned that capacity building for the workforce is crucial to ensure that people can actively participate and benefit from green development.

She also noted the importance of sustainable funding to improve investment in clean energy and green infrastructure.

"The key solutions and recommendations based on input and analysis from today's speakers and audience are crucial to enriching the policy brief and strategies for boosting Indonesia's economic growth," Filda said.

In the same event, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono emphasized that Indonesia's journey towards the energy transition and green economy must be inclusive and just.

He noted that under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, the government is seeking to adopt an integrated approach, strengthening food and water security through better agriculture, irrigation, and logistics.

Apart from that, Indonesia is also aiming to realize energy security by expanding the use of renewable energy such as geothermal and hydropower, processing waste to energy, and developing climate-resilient infrastructure.
