Indonesia’s Jambi University (Unja) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur to strengthen education programs for children of migrant workers, the university said on Monday.Unja is among 102 Indonesian universities that signed the agreement at an event in Nilai, Malaysia, witnessed by Indonesia’s ambassador to Malaysia, Dato’ Indera Hermono.
“To strengthen national education, Unja is committed to improving access and quality of education for Indonesian migrant children through this partnership with the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur,” said Prof. Revis Asra, Vice Rector for Cooperation, Public Relations, and Information Systems at Unja, in Jambi on Monday.
The agreement covers international community service programs, training to improve teacher quality, and the placement of students and lecturers in various regions of Peninsular Malaysia.

“The partnership reflects our concern for the education of Indonesian migrant children, especially those from Jambi living in Kuala Lumpur,” Asra said.

Ambassador Hermono said the embassy would fully support the involvement of Indonesian students in carrying out the “Tri Dharma of Higher Education,” particularly cross-border community service.
The initiative aims to expand the role of Indonesian universities abroad while giving students the chance to contribute to the education of migrant workers’ children in Malaysia.
Through the collaboration, students not only gain valuable academic and cultural experience but also play an active role in shaping the future of Indonesian migrant workers’ children in Malaysia.
