Unand ranks in world's top 250 in interdisciplinary research

Padang (ANTARA) - Andalas University (Unand) Rector Efa Yonnedi stated that the university has successfully entered the top 250 universities worldwide in the field of interdisciplinary research.

"This is a good achievement. but we will continue to improve Unand's achievement on the international stage," said Yonnedi on the sidelines of the university's 69th anniversary celebration in Padang, West Sumatra, on Saturday.

According to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR), the university, inaugurated on September 13, 1956, by Vice President Mohammad Hatta, is ranked eighth nationally.

Interdisciplinary research combines methods, theories, concepts, or perspectives from two or more disciplines to solve complex problems.

Yonnedi also highlighted that Unand has successfully entered the top 60 universities worldwide in the field of gender development. This international recognition further affirms Unand as a university that actively supports gender equality.

He noted that Unand provides opportunities for anyone to hold important positions, without viewing gender as a limitation. Several key positions on campus are currently held by women.

However, he emphasized that appointments are based not only on gender but also on the quality and capability of the individual to fill the position.

Yonnedi added that Unand, which recently celebrated its 69th anniversary, maintains a long-term commitment to investing in teaching, education, and research to enhance productivity and societal benefit, as well as to developing quality graduates with strong character.

“We aim to produce graduates who are not only intellectually capable but also possess integrity, ethics, and good character wherever they pursue their careers,” he concluded.
