Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ministry of Environment has mobilized 25 trucks carrying 10,000 gallons of drinking water to several areas in Aceh Province as part of the ongoing response to the recent widespread floods and landslides.In a statement cited in Jakarta on Saturday, Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq noted that the truckloads of aid were deployed to the regions most severely affected by the disasters to accelerate post-disaster emergency measures.
"We hope this shipment of assistance will help strengthen the government's concrete emergency and recovery efforts," he said.
Providing further details, Nurofiq noted that the government dispatched 18 trucks to North Aceh District, while the remainder were sent to Aceh Tamiang District. The minister emphasized that his office is committed not only to distributing logistics but also to taking all necessary measures to help Aceh residents endure and maintain their quality of life amid limited access to basic needs and services caused by damage to vital infrastructure and facilities.

In addition to the large volume of drinking water, he said that the Ministry of Environment has also sent water purifiers, with technical teams deployed to operate three units in Aceh Tamiang.
He further remarked that ministry officers are currently traveling overland to Aceh to ensure the targeted distribution of assistance while conducting thorough environmental inspections in disaster-hit areas.
To strengthen disaster response, he continued, the Environment Ministry has established a centralized command post in Lhokseumawe City, which will remain active until recovery and rehabilitation measures are completed.
Besides serving as a hub for aid distribution, the post is also designated as a control center for disaster impact assessments, he noted.
