Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara, Dec 6 (ANTARA News)- An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter Scale jolted Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara`s provincial capital, on Thursday at 8:02 a.m. Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB).

The quake`s epicenter was located at 8.37 degree southern latitude and 116.06 degree eastern longitude, 23 km northwest of Mataram, and at a depth of 10 km, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported on Thursday.

A number of local inhabitants rushed out of their homes as the quake occurred.

The earthquake did not have potential to trigger a tsunami.
