Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI), Abdul Kadir Karding, has asked civil servants, especially 310 prospective civil servants (CPNS) within his ministry, to focus on implementing protections for Indonesian migrant workers.“We provide a reinforcement so that they focus on serving migrant workers through professional, innovative, trustworthy, responsive work, and so on through protection efforts,” Karding said at the closing of orientation and submission of CPNS placement decrees at the ministry, here on Monday.
He informed that the prospective civil servants would be provided training later so that they can serve Indonesian migrant workers well.
“We will place them with special specifications, we will train them because (then) they have special expertise in their respective fields,” the minister said.
Karding advised them to work professionally, have empathy, integrity, and be responsive and innovative, or PROTEKSI.
“Because those being served are people who are struggling for their lives and their families, so, first of all we must have good empathy. Secondly, I ask them not to be involved in bribery, and they must have integrity,” he told the media after the event.
“Then the third, I asked them to be responsive. What does responsive mean? These civil servants who (focus on) this service must be fast. (If) there is a complaint (it must be) handled quickly. So, they must be responsive,” he said.
“The fourth one, I encourage them to continue to innovate and be creative. I advise them to continue to develop their personal qualities,” he added.

In the meantime, the President’s special envoy for the development of the young generation and arts workers, Raffi Ahmad, congratulated the new civil servants at the ministry and encouraged them to foster good motivation in serving the community so that they can work well.
“So, the most important thing is that you have good motivation. No matter how smart we are, no matter how high our education, our wisdom is more important than all that,” he said.
He also stressed the need for new civil servants to realize that they are the main pillars of public service provision and the implementation of state policies.

As the main pillars, they are expected to have a strong spirit so that they are not easily involved in actions that violate moral values, such as corruption.
“If you don’t have manners, one day this pillar will fall over,” he said.
“Since you are the pillars of the nation, your hearts must be strong. Do not commit corruption, get involved in online gambling, or even use illegal drugs. By becoming civil servants, you are the image of this nation,” he added.
“So, you have to remember that whatever you do, you are the image of the nation,” Ahmad reiterated.
