Polri to restore peace, apprehend perpetrator per President directive

Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo said the force is ready to follow President Prabowo Subianto's directives to restore peace, apprehend perpetrators, and maintain order.

His administration granted promotions and education to over 40 police personnel injured while maintaining order during protests.Sigit Prabowo noted that during the protest, some people went out of hand, inciting riots across the nation.

"We of course will follow up on President's directive. Restoring peaceful condition so people can do their activities, economy can grow again, and we will apprehend people who wreak havoc, and have them undergo legal proceedings," the chief said in Polri Hospital in Kramat Jati, here on Monday.

President Prabowo Subianto and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya visited dozens of police being treated in the hospital for the injuries they sustained during duty. Some of them lost hands and had skull fractures. Moreover, one had their internal organ damaged because they were trampled by crowd.

He expressed gratitude for the president's attention to the personnel. There are a total of 13 personnel whom the President visited, he noted.

"He is very concerned. He gave me a directive to give the best promotion to the personnel who fell victim while carrying out their state duties," Sigit Prabowo added.

In the same location on different occasion, President Prabowo Subianto stated that he expressed gratitude for the personnel's services.

Subianto said that the victims from the protests were more than 40 people. The majority of the victims being treated at Polri Hospital have finished their treatment and gone home.

"There are still 17 being treated here. 14 Polri's personnel, and three civilians, one of which is a lady," he said.

The lady, who was on her way to the market, was mugged by perpetrators. As a result, her thigh was injured and her motorbike was stolen.
