Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that the coffin of Zetro Leonardo Purba, the late staff member of the Indonesian Embassy in Lima shot dead last week, will be repatriated on Tuesday, September 9.Ministry Spokesperson Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela said that the authority is coordinating with the funeral home and the specialised human remains cargo service for Purba’s return.
“If everything goes smoothly, we expect his body to arrive in Indonesia on September 9, 2025,” Mulachela stated in his video message broadcast on Sunday.
He also confirmed that Purba’s body had undergone an autopsy several days ago. In line with the spokesperson, Judha Nugraha, director for the protection of Indonesians at the ministry, stated that Purba’s coffin will be transported to Indonesia soon.
“According to our plan, we expect that (Purba’s coffin) can be transported to Indonesia in the coming days,” Nugraha stated on Saturday.

Zetro Leonardo Purba, a junior officer at the Indonesian Embassy in Lima, was shot and killed near his home on Monday, September 1. Security footage shows the gunman waiting before firing three shots and fleeing on a motorbike. Nothing was stolen.
Purba had been in Peru for five months after serving at the Indonesian Consulate in Melbourne. Responding to the incident, Deputy Foreign Minister Anis Matta stated that the ministry will evaluate its protection scheme for Indonesian diplomats and staff abroad.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian embassy is coordinating intensively with the local police carrying out the investigation to unravel the motive and suspects involved in the murder. The local police have also coordinated with the prosecutor's office and provided extra protection and supervision to the family of the late embassy staffer.
