Denpasar (ANTARA) - Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport served 811,170 travelers between December 15 and 26, averaging 67,597 per day—about 2 percent higher than the January–November daily average of 66,222.

The airport’s Head of Communication and Legal Affairs, Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, stated in Denpasar on Saturday that during the 12-day operation of the Christmas and New Year Travel Post, the airport handled 5,128 flights, averaging 427 movements per day—above the annual daily average of 390.

He reported that on December 24, passenger traffic reached 70,746, comprising 30,543 domestic and 40,203 international travelers. This figure was higher than the previous day and equivalent to 108.8 percent of the 65,044 passengers recorded on the same date last year.

However, Asmadi noted that the total number of passengers declined to 64,157 on Christmas Day, with the airport serving 26,970 domestic and 37,187 international travelers.

The following day, Friday (December 26), showed a contrasting trend, as passenger traffic surged to 72,259 travelers, equivalent to 106.5 percent of the figure recorded on the same date in 2024, he added.

He further explained that the increase in passenger volume was accompanied by a rise in flight traffic, with the airport handling 448 movements that day, representing a 9.8 percent increase compared to the same date last year.

Asmadi highlighted the favorable year-end travel trend as strong evidence countering claims of a tourism downturn in Bali, noting that inbound travelers significantly outnumbered outbound passengers.

He elaborated that on the 12th day of the holiday post’s operation (December 26), the airport served 29,751 domestic and 42,508 international passengers, with arriving travelers totaling 42,132.

“This figure includes 17,479 domestic and 24,653 international arrivals,” he said.
