Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government will provide more than 100,000 internship placements under its National Internship Program in 2026, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said on Tuesday.“The government will reopen opportunities for fresh university graduates in mid-2026 with a minimum capacity of 100,000 internship participants,” Wijaya said in an official statement from the Ministry of Manpower.

Wijaya noted that the National Internship Program provides significant benefits for participants, ranging from practical experience to job-related skills that serve as valuable preparation after graduation.

The program is also designed to reduce unemployment while strengthening the alignment between university graduates’ competencies and industry needs.

“Most importantly, internship participants will truly learn directly within companies or government institutions, be guided by mentors, gain real work experience, and receive an allowance in accordance with the local regency or city minimum wage,” he stated.

“This further reinforces that the internship program is an important instrument in preparing a competent and competitive workforce for the long term,” Yassierli said.

In addition, participants will be provided with social protection in the form of Work Accident Insurance (JKK) and Death Benefit Insurance (JK).
