Palembang, S Sumatra (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said the Kayu Agung–Palembang–Betung (Kapalbetung) toll is targeted for limited use by H-10 of Eid 2026 to ease holiday travel.“This toll is vital for regional connectivity. We aim for limited operation before Eid, around H-10, after a thorough safety inspection,” AHY said during a visit to the Musi V Bridge construction site in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Wednesday.

He said the Kapalbetung toll would cut travel time between Palembang and Betung from three to four hours to about one hour, improving productivity and reducing traffic congestion during Eid departures and returns.

Safety remains a top priority, AHY said, adding that a feasibility test, particularly on the Musi V Bridge structure, will be completed before the toll becomes operational. The Musi V Bridge spans 1,684 meters with a width of 2 x 12.7 meters. Its central span uses a 100m + 180m + 100m Post-Tensioned Cast in Situ Concrete Box Girder design.

AHY also stressed the importance of completing land acquisition to achieve a “clean and clear” project status, with the government coordinating closely with ministries and relevant stakeholders.

Palembang Mayor Ratu Dewa expressed optimism the toll would significantly improve mobility and regional economic growth.

“With this toll, travel time, which used to be three to four hours, can be cut to around one hour,” Dewa said.

The city government has coordinated with South Sumatra provincial authorities and proposed a toll exit in the Gandus Subdistrict to optimize access to the area, Dewa added.
