Badung, Bali (ANTARA) -

Indonesia’s communications minister said internet speeds in Bali outperformed the national average during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr monitoring period, underscoring stable network performance amid peak holiday travel.

Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid said average national download speeds reached 95 Mbps, with upload speeds at 42 Mbps, indicating generally reliable conditions. In Bali, however, average download speeds were higher at around 105 Mbps.

The figures were based on monitoring conducted at joint Ramadan and Eid command posts between March 13 and March 24, she said in Badung District on Tuesday.

At I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, internet speeds reached as high as 250 Mbps, reflecting strong connectivity at one of the country’s busiest travel hubs during the holiday surge.

Hafid expressed appreciation to mobile network operators for maintaining service quality during the busy travel season, when demand typically spikes due to increased mobility.

Across Bali, Indosat recorded the highest speed test success rate at 98.25 percent, followed by Telkomsel at 89.3 percent and XLSmart at 58.99 percent, according to ministry data.

She noted that not all areas had been fully covered by testing tools, but monitoring efforts would continue through March 29 to ensure consistent service during the remainder of the holiday period.

“Operations will continue until March 29 to ensure smooth and safe homecoming travel for the public,” Hafid said, referring to the annual Eid exodus.

Despite the generally strong performance, temporary slowdowns were recorded between March 14 and March 17 at Gilimanuk Port, as well as on March 18 ahead of the Nyepi Day of Silence, due to spikes in user activity.

The ministry has deployed around 500 joint monitoring posts nationwide, which not only track network performance but also support broader transport coordination during the holiday period.

At the airport command post, Hafid also reviewed flight frequency data to ensure communication networks remain stable and do not disrupt aviation operations during the peak travel season. The government aims to maintain reliable digital infrastructure as part of broader efforts to support safe, efficient and connected holiday travel across Indonesia.
