Jakarta (ANTARA) -

Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria said on Wednesday that the government is preparing a national artificial intelligence (AI) roadmap to address the social and economic impacts of rapid technological advances and strengthen the country’s global competitiveness.

He said the document outlines Indonesia’s goal of building an ethical and responsible AI ecosystem as part of its long-term Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.

“Indonesia’s vision is to create an AI ecosystem that is ethical and accountable, while enhancing global competitiveness toward Golden Indonesia 2045,” Patria told reporters at state radio RRI in Jakarta.

Patria noted that AI-based products are increasingly entering the global market, with human interaction with machines intensifying to the point of forming “synthetic relationships,” including instances where people develop emotional attachments to AI systems, sometimes with serious consequences.

He also highlighted the risks of generative AI, which can create lifelike virtual personas that never existed and interact with people as if they were human, offering feedback and emotional engagement.

The AI roadmap is designed to ensure the responsible use of AI while fostering research, innovation, and investment.

“It will build an ecosystem for AI research and innovation, encourage investment, and develop use cases that support national priority programs,” Patria added.
