Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara, March 31 (Antara) - An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale rocked the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) city of Mataram on Thursday at 5.34 p.m. Central Indonesia Standard Time or WITA, an agency said.

According to a report issued by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) office here, the epicenter of the quake was located 17 kilometers northwest of Mataram at a depth of 12 kilometers.

Location of the earthquake was at 8:52 south latitude and 115.99 east longitude, the agency said, adding that the quake has no potential to trigger a tsunami.

The tremor, which occurred during heavy rains in Mataram, was also felt by the citizens in Denpasar, Bali.

The quake had forced a number of Mataram residents to rush out of the house during the heavy rain. (*)
