Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle's (PDIP's) executive board, Puan Maharani, has affirmed that her party will work with the upcoming Prabowo-Gibran government to build the nation.
"We will build Indonesia together," Maharani, who is also Speaker of the House of Representatives, said after presiding over a plenary meeting at the parliament complex here on Tuesday.
She made the statement when asked whether PDIP would be in the opposition or a part of the Prabowo-Gibran government coalition, even if none of its cadres sit in the next Cabinet as ministers or are appointed government agency heads.

Maharani said that communication between the PDIP and President-elect Prabowo Subianto has been well-established with no disputes.
"We always communicate with each other, like we establish good communication here in the House of Representatives. We will always build Indonesia together," she reiterated.
She confirmed that the meeting between Prabowo and general chair of the PDIP and the 5th president of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri, will take place before Prabowo's inauguration on October 20, 2024.

Maharani further said that none of the figures from her party were summoned by Prabowo to his residence on Kertanegara Street, South Jakarta, on Monday, when the President-elect met with 49 figures who are believed to be his ministerial candidates.
"Yes, we (PDIP) did get the call, that's it," she said.
However, she did not rule out the possibility of PDIP members being summoned to Prabowo's residence.
She said that anything could happen ahead of the inauguration. "Insya-Allah (God willing), anything is possible," she affirmed.
