Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto on Tuesday landed in Kupang city of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province to attend the tanwir, or general assembly, of Muhammadiyah, one of the largest Islamic organizations in the country.
"On Wednesday (December 4, 2024), President Prabowo is scheduled to attend and open the tanwir in commemoration of the 112th anniversary of Muhammadiyah," Yusuf Permana, deputy for protocol, press, and media at the Presidential Secretariat, said in a press release received in Jakarta.
The event will take place at Muhammadiyah University of Kupang in Kupang city, he added.
The Head of State landed at El Tari International Airport in Kupang city around 7 p.m. local time on Tuesday.

Upon his arrival, Prabowo was welcomed by Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin; Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni; commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), General Agus Subiyanto; and NTT acting governor Andriko Noto Susanto.
Deputy head of the Hajj Organizing Agency (BPH), Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak; commander of IX/Udayana Military Regional Command, Major General Muhammad Zamroni; and NTT Police chief, Inspector General Daniel Tahi Monang Silitonga, were also present at the airport.
Thereafter, the President proceeded to a hotel in Kupang city, where he will stay during the visit. Acting mayor of Kupang, Linus Lusi, welcomed the President at the hotel.

Earlier, Prabowo left for Kupang city from Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase of Jakarta at 3:10 p.m. local time. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya accompanied the President during the flight.
As per information provided on Muhammadiyah's website, Muhammadiyah chairperson Haedar Nashir said that President Prabowo is scheduled to deliver a speech and virtually break ground for a hospital project at Kupang Muhammadiyah University during the general assembly.
The assembly is themed "Bringing Prosperity to All."
He added that a memorandum of understanding will also be signed between the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) and Muhammadiyah at the event.
