Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions has renovated 25,000 homes this year using village funds, targeting residents living in extreme poverty.The initiative was announced by Minister Yandri Susanto after a meeting with Minister of Housing and Settlements Maruarar Sirait in Jakarta on Thursday.
Susanto explained that the beneficiaries were selected through village deliberations, ensuring the support reached those most in need. Each household received an allocation of Rp10 million (approximately US$612) for building materials.
He said collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Settlements is expected to accelerate efforts to provide decent housing for the extremely poor and could eventually expand to support other low-income villagers.

During the meeting, both ministers agreed to work together to improve rural housing conditions. Susanto emphasized that improving housing is one of 12 action plans developed by his ministry to promote village-level development, support economic equality, and reduce poverty.

The two ministries also agreed to formalize their collaboration in a memorandum of understanding (MoU), which will outline responsibilities, quotas, and shared goals.
