Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Religious Affairs has launched 18 national programs under the theme The Wonder of Harmony 2025, running from November to December to mark the International Day for Tolerance on November 16.Special Staff to the Minister for Public Policy, Media, and Human Resource Development, Ismail Cawidu, said the initiative serves as a social and cultural movement to promote togetherness through a dakwah-edutainment approach.

“The Ministry aims to present a peaceful, compassionate, and inclusive image of Islam through methods that engage all segments of society, especially the youth,” Ismail said Wednesday.

He emphasized that the activities reflect the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening religious moderation and social harmony as the basis of national unity.

Programs such as the Islamic Cultural Outreach Expo, Harmony Fun Walk, Interfaith Harmony Camp, Ecotheology Workshop, and Majelis Taklim Festival will be held nationwide to reach diverse communities.

“We want to revive the spirit of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity) in an inspiring way. Arts, sports, discussions, and social activities will serve as platforms of harmony,” Ismail said.

Director General of Islamic Community Guidance Abu Rokhmad said The Wonder of Harmony is part of the Ministry’s Asta Protas Kemenag Berdampak initiative, particularly under the “Harmony and Love for Humanity” pillar.

He added that the program is not merely ceremonial but aims to strengthen interfaith solidarity and promote Islam’s universal values as rahmatan lil ‘alamin (a blessing for all creation).

“This program demonstrates collaboration between the Ministry, religious groups, academics, and communities to create spaces that foster empathy and understanding,” he said.

Abu noted that each event carries a thematic message integrating spiritual and social dimensions. One such activity, the Workshop on Mapping Potential Social Conflicts, involves experts such as Frans Magnis Suseno and Amin Abdullah to identify root causes of tension and provide policy recommendations.

“Harmony must be strategically planned, not just promoted as a moral ideal,” Abu stressed.

Other highlights include the Ambon Waqf City Kick-Off, the National Islamic Film Awards, and the Majelis Taklim Festival, all designed to strengthen Islam’s cultural, economic, and educational roles.

Abu also underscored youth involvement through activities like the Sakinah Family Run 5K, Cultural Qur’an Study, and Creative Majelis Taklim Workshop, aimed at building environmental awareness and intersectoral collaboration.
