Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia remains committed to importing crude oil and fuel from the United States under the two countries' ongoing trade tariff negotiations, a senior energy official said on Friday."We, at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, stay committed and will proceed with the import quantities we agreed upon with the US," Deputy Minister Yuliot Tanjung said, addressing rumors that the talks risk cancellation.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto confirmed that negotiations are continuing and are expected to conclude this month. He said he met US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer on December 11 to discuss reciprocal tariffs, with the results reported to President Prabowo Subianto on Friday.
Hartarto said the president asked that the tariff negotiations be completed by the end of 2025 while prioritizing mutual interests.

As part of the negotiation, Indonesia has committed to increasing imports from the US to help balance bilateral trade. The country plans to import up to US$15 billion in energy products and US$4.5 billion in agricultural goods.
Both sides have also agreed to develop a US$10 billion blue ammonia facility in the US and pursue additional US investments in Indonesian projects.

Indonesia is seeking zero-percent tariffs for commodities not produced in the US, including crude palm oil, rubber, tea, coffee, and other rubber-based products. Tariffs for textiles and footwear are still under discussion.
