Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) reported that its Counterradicalization Task Force identified 21,199 pieces of content containing intolerance, radicalism, and terrorism throughout 2025.
“Regarding the content, the Counterradicalization Task Force has taken steps to request access termination through the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs,” BNPT head Eddy Hartono said during the year-end press statement on the development of Indonesia’s terrorism trends in 2025 here on Tuesday.
The task force comprises representatives from multiple ministries and agencies, including BNPT, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), the Indonesian Military’s Strategic Intelligence Agency, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, and the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN).
In an online-monitored statement, he said the content was spread across various social media platforms, including Meta with 14,314 items, TikTok with 1,367 items, and X with 1,220 items.
In the digital sphere, the agency identified 137 active perpetrators misusing cyberspace for terrorist activities, 32 individuals who were radicalized online and joined networks, and 17 individuals conducting digital terrorist activities without direct network involvement.

He said this phenomenon is known as self-radicalization, meaning individuals become radicalized through exposure on social media.
“This shows that the risk of misuse of digital space continues to grow among terrorist networks and their sympathizers,” he said.
Meanwhile, Director General of Digital Space Oversight at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs Alexander Sabar stated that his office has discussed the spread of radical content in the digital realm with BNPT.

He explained that his office will accommodate complaints from the public as well as from ministries and agencies, including BNPT, when negative content is detected. These reports will then be followed up by either taking down the content or blocking access to the platform.
“We will process the reports to determine whether a take-down is necessary for content on social media and platforms, or whether access termination is required,” he said.
