Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, is set to meet with Saudi Arabia's Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar Al-Khorayef, this week to discuss cooperation on critical minerals.

“We will discuss, among other things, critical minerals,” Lahadalia said on Tuesday.

The meeting will also cover broader efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation that could benefit both countries.

“That is the agenda for this week,” he added.

Minister Al-Khorayef will make an official visit to Indonesia to explore opportunities for strengthening ties in the industrial and mining sectors.

The visit aims to bolster collaboration in the mining sector, which holds significant potential for long-term economic growth for both nations.

In the last fiscal year, Indonesia’s mineral fuel exports totaled more than US$67 billion, while imports reached US$38 billion.

During his visit, Al-Khorayef is expected to meet with several senior Indonesian officials and representatives from the private mining sector, including Febriany Eddy, CEO of Vale Indonesia—a company partly owned by Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia hopes its investment in Vale Indonesia will pave the way for expanded exploration and infrastructure development in Indonesia’s mining sector, while also supporting the kingdom’s clean energy goals amid the global transition to renewable energy.
