Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia and Jordan have established strategic cooperation in the agricultural sector to strengthen food security in both countries.
The partnership was formalized through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Indonesia’s Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, and Jordan’s Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Al Henefat, in Amman on Monday.
In a written statement issued Tuesday, Sulaiman described the agreement as a significant step toward boosting food security and enhancing the agricultural value chains of both nations.
“Indonesia is committed to building mutually beneficial agricultural cooperation. We welcome Jordan’s commitment and believe this synergy will strengthen our agricultural sector going forward,” he said.
The signing, witnessed by leaders from both countries, followed a series of bilateral meetings.
Under the agreement, Indonesia and Jordan will strengthen strategic ties by enhancing human resource capacity, supporting agricultural trade, and collaborating on fertilizer production and agricultural technology.

Sulaiman noted that one example of this cooperation will be wheat development, including a review of productive land for wheat cultivation in Indonesia’s East Nusa Tenggara province.
He added that Jordan has also expressed readiness to import crude palm oil from Indonesia in significant quantities.
The MoU is expected to serve as a foundation for long-term collaboration, enhancing diplomatic ties and delivering direct benefits to farmers and agricultural businesses in Indonesia.
