Samarinda, E Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has launched several new policies to improve the quality of teachers as well as student assessments.The new policies are aimed at realizing the vision of quality education for all and contributing to human resource development, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Abdul Mu’ti said in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, on Saturday.
“The simplification of teachers’ reports has been carried out so that teachers can focus more on the teaching and learning process,” he informed.
To improve the competency of teachers, the ministry has implemented several new training programs. They include mandatory training for teachers on integrating character education and values in all subjects. The ministry is also providing special training to school counselors.
“Starting in the 2025–2026 academic year, artificial intelligence training will be provided to teachers,” the minister disclosed.
In terms of the school curriculum, he emphasized that the 2013 curriculum is still valid. However, it is being implemented using a deep learning approach to reduce the learning burden.

As a form of new evaluation measure, the ministry will also start to conduct the Academic Achievement Test (TKA) for students in November 2025. The test is not mandatory and will not be a determinant in their graduation.

According to Mu’ti, the test will seek to assess the learning outcomes of each student and evaluate the accreditation of the Quality Assurance System (SPM) at the regional level.
He further said that the TKA scores will be one of the factors considered in the achievement-based admission track at universities and schools.
