Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has opened a global engagement office (Kadin GEO) in Paris, France, marking a strategic step to strengthen Indonesia’s influence in global economic diplomacy and international cooperation. The launch, which coincided with France’s Bastille Day celebrations on July 14, 2025, was highlighted by the chairperson of Kadin Indonesia, Anindya Bakrie, as a timely move to deepen economic ties, especially following the initial signing of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (I-EU CEPA).

“We need a navigator in the European Union, and this is where France plays a key role in opening more opportunities (for economic cooperation with Indonesia) — particularly after the I-EU CEPA signing in Brussels,” he said in a press release received here on Tuesday evening.

The Kadin GEO will be led by vice chairperson for international relations at Kadin Indonesia, Bernardino M. Vega.

The Paris-based office is meant to spearhead Indonesia’s economic diplomacy, serving as a bridge between Indonesian business interests and the broader international business ecosystem.

“We want to promote a consistent message when representing Indonesia in bilateral and multilateral forums. This is crucial, especially with our active roles in ASEAN, APEC, OECD, BRICS, COP, and the G20,” Bakrie said.
