Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian U-23 team handed a crushing 8-0 defeat to the Brunei Darussalam team in their opening Group A match of the 2025 ASEAN U-23 Championship at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, on Tuesday.

According to the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF), Jens Raven, Arkhan Fikri, and Rayhan Hannan contributed goals, with Ravens scoring six goals for the team.

The result placed Indonesia at the top of Group A with three points, while Brunei moved to the bottom of the standings. Statistically, Indonesia dominated the match with 84 percent ball possession and 28 shots, 14 of which were on target.

The Indonesian team took the initiative from the start of the match. Just two minutes in, Hannan’s assist was finished by Raven, who opened the score for the team.

Six minutes later, Raven took his second goal, assisted by Robi Darwis, bringing the tally to 2-0. Indonesia scored again in the 20th minute after Fikri changed Darwis’ pass into a goal.

Raven completed his hat-trick in the 30th minute, finishing a long ball from Muhammad Ferarri to bring the score to 4-0. He upped it to 5-0 two minutes later, after netting his fourth goal, beating goalkeeper Muhammad Khairul Hisyam.

Hannan added the sixth goal in the 34th minute with a powerful shot from outside the box. In the 41st minute, Raven again raised the score to 7-0.

In the second half, Indonesia continued their play, with Raven and Althaf Indie both creating goal chances, though their shots were saved by Brunei’s Hisyam. The eighth goal was scored in the 62nd minute, when another long pass from Ferarri found Raven, who converted it into a goal. With no additional goals scored before the final whistle, Indonesia managed a definitive 8-0 victory.
