Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon has underscored that Indonesia’s cultural diversity serves as a unifying force for the nation in achieving a Golden Indonesia 2045.
He made the remarks ahead of the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence.
“We should be grateful to God Almighty, as not all nations endure for eight decades,” he said at the 2025 Gita Bahana Nusantara Independence Concert on Saturday evening (September 8) in Jakarta.
Indonesia is home to 1,340 ethnic groups, 718 languages, and thousands of intangible cultural heritages, Fadli noted. This wealth of diversity, he said, strengthens national identity and solidarity, acting as a binding rather than dividing force.

To safeguard this legacy, the government of President Prabowo Subianto has established a dedicated ministry to oversee the preservation and advancement of culture.
“We want our culture to be protected, developed, utilized, and promoted through diplomacy, events, and international cooperation,” he said.

Fadli also called on the younger generation — including millennials, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha — to play an active role in preserving and advancing Indonesian culture.
“We must build and advance our national culture amid global civilization. And we must remember the struggles of our heroes, who sacrificed their lives for independence. Without them, we would not be here, in a nation that has stood independent for 80 years,” he said.
