Gunawan revealed that investigators continue to expand their probe into allegations of online gambling involvement among Communication and Digital Ministry personnel.

The minister remarked that the Online Gambling Handling Desk plans to implement a two-pronged approach, combining enforcement actions against individuals involved in online gambling activities with educational initiatives aimed at prevention.

He affirmed that National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, as the desk head, will also take action against online gambling bookies.

"General Prabowo has explained that action will be taken as long as the bookies are in Indonesia. We cannot reveal all the details, let the Online Gambling Desk work," he stated.

Earlier, Communication and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid announced the temporary dismissal of 11 employees of her ministry who were arrested by the police. They were suspected of abusing their authority to protect online gambling sites.

In addition, the ministry has continued efforts to cut off access to content or websites used for online gambling.

On Monday, General Prabowo assured that the police will move quickly with the Online Gambling Handling Desk to eradicate online gambling networks operating in Indonesia.

He revealed that the police force will also work with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) and Financial Service Authority (OJK) to map payment systems related to online gambling, cut fund flows, and close payment instruments used for online gambling transactions.
