Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend the 2024 National Christmas celebration, which will take place at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta on Saturday.

"Yes, he will come," Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar confirmed while issuing a press statement at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday.
Earlier, Umar attended a limited meeting on the implementation of Hajj worship at the Presidential Palace, where President Prabowo said he would also join the National Christmas celebration.

According to Umar, the president's presence at the event demonstrates that the government wants to embrace and protect people from all religious backgrounds, including Christians.

"The government must protect everyone," he said.

As previously reported, the 2024 National Christmas Celebration Committee is collaborating with the Communion of Churches in Indonesia (PGI) to prepare the event.

The chair of the committee, Thomas Djiwandono, conveyed information on preparations for the event, including its theme, "Return to Bethlehem." The theme was chosen to reflect the values of love, peace, justice, and simplicity.
