Govt seeks to boost tourist movementswith Bengawan Solo Travel Mart

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Tourism, in cooperation with the Cultural and Tourism Office of Surakarta, is seeking to boost the number of domestic tourists' movements with the Bengawan Solo Travel Mart 2025.

Deputy of Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, in her statement on Sunday, stated that the event is expected to boost the number of foreign tourists' arrivals and domestic tourists' movements, especially ahead of the school holiday period.

"This event is expected to boost the sales of tourism products and packages, increase the trips of domestic tourists, and contribute to national economic strengthening," she said.

The event, held annually by the Cultural and Tourism Office of Surakarta, was held on May 6–10, 2025, and was participated in by 30 tourism players from Surakarta, with 50 buyers comprising 20 buyers from abroad and 30 domestic buyers.

The majority of buyers from abroad came from various countries in Asia, among others, China, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, and Vietnam. The Bengawan Solo Travel Mart 2025 featured familiarization trips for buyers, business-to-business meetings, and business-to-customer meetings.

In the familiarization trip, the Ministry of Tourism invites buyers to get to know and visit several tourist destinations in Surakarta, including the Kauman Batik Village, and wellness tourism activities.

The annual program is initiated by the Cultural and Tourism Office of Surakarta in cooperation with the main stakeholders, with the goal of promoting and strengthening tourism potential in the region.

This initiative was led by the Surakarta Office of the Association of Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA), which serves as an important contribution from the private sector in supporting the development and global promotion of tourism in Surakarta city.
