"For tourism, first, the infrastructure must be improved, and then amenities and events, and then massive promotions. If those are not ready, tourists would only come once and would not return the next time. We have to take care of them," PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono noted in a statement here on Monday.
An improvement in an area, in principle, should be conducted in a quick and integrated manner, so that the local and national economy stand to benefit from it.
The bicycling park area, located in Meninting Village, Batulayar Sub-district, was developed starting July 15, 2020, and completed in April 2021.
It utilized funds, worth Rp17 billion, allocated in the 2020-2021 State Budget. The park has a casual bicycle track (blue track), pool plaster, plaza 1 and 2, BMX track, wooden and concrete tracks, and a perimeter fence.
The park occupies a total area of 2.7 hectares on a plot of land that was earlier unproductive and later converted into a Green Open Space (RTH) or a city park.
The new bike park is expected to become an attraction for tourists to visit and enjoy the Mandalika-Lombok Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP).
The Mandalika-Lombok DPSP offers pristine natural scenery, unique culture and traditions, as well as sports tourism activities for domestic and foreign tourists.
"The tourism sector is expected to become a mainstay sector to generate foreign exchange, create jobs, and boost local economic growth," the minister stated.
