Ready to drive digital transformation for MSMEs: Minister

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Communication and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid echoed her ministry's readiness to drive digital transformation for Indonesians, especially for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through various initiatives with its partners.

"We really need to prepare ourselves for the digitalization," Hafid remarked here on Saturday, adding that MSMEs are one of the sectors affected by digitalization.

To this end, the Ministry of Communication is implementing several initiatives to drive digitalization in MSMEs. One of the steps taken is collaborating with several media outlets and partners to improve the understanding of digital literacy among people, including MSME players.

"Approximately 38.7 percent of MSMEs had utilized digital technology (in 2023). Well, this figure has actually reflected an increase compared to 2022, which was only 34 percent," she explained.

Nevertheless, she further underscored the need to increase the number swiftly to face digitalization. In addition to improving understanding of digital literacy, the ministry assists MSMEs in going digital.

This encompasses assistance in creating a special website, collaborating with several startups and e-commerce platforms to sell MSME products, and implementing MSME business acceleration programs.

Hafid also highlighted the development of artificial intelligence (AI), which MSME players can utilize to operate their businesses. With the several AI features and other digital technologies, MSME players are expected to maximize their businesses and boost their profits.

"Artificial intelligence can make their MSMEs operate efficiently. Thus, going forward, we hope that we can see this (being implemented) in our MSMEs," the minister remarked.
