Minister seeks to increase Youth Development Index to 67.24 in 2026

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo is targeting the Youth Development Index (IPP), which provides an overview of the progress of youth development in Indonesia, to increase to 67.24 in 2026.This was conveyed by the minister during a meeting with Commission X of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The IPP score as of August 2024, based on data released by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, stood at 56.33, increased from 55.33 in 2022.

Ariotedjo highlighted that his ministry has a big goal of developing excellent and competitive youths who have good character.

In the 2026 fiscal year, the budget ceiling for youth-related programs is set at Rp60 billion (around US$3.65 million).

However, the allocated budget is not final since the ministry has proposed an additional budget of Rp3.46 trillion (around US$210.9 million), with the budget for youth programs set to increase to Rp419 billion.

The minister explained that the goal that his ministry seeks to achieve in youth development is the coordination and calculation of the national IPP, as well as the implementation of the national action plan and regional action plan for youth development.

He underlined that youth development should be carried out by various parties. Thus, his ministry continues to collaborate with other ministries and agencies that have programs related to youth development.

In this regard, he noted that the Ministry of Youth and Sports plays the role of coordinator of efforts that all ministries and agencies carry out for youth interests.

He further emphasized that youth development remains a priority in accordance with the commitment of President Prabowo Subianto to advancing Indonesia's youth.
