Bogor, West Java (ANTARA) - Democrat Party Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) on Sunday urged firm legal action against those behind the Grahadi Building riot, warning the violence could harm investor confidence and threaten Indonesia’s economic stability.
“The destruction and arson of the Grahadi Building is deeply regrettable. Those responsible must be held accountable under the law,” Yudhoyono said after meeting President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace.
He again warned that such acts of violence could harm Indonesia’s economy and investment climate.
“Prolonged unrest can undermine public trust and deter investors. Stability is key to economic growth,” he added.
Yudhoyono drew a clear line between peaceful protests and violent actions, emphasizing that while peaceful demonstrations are a democratic right, violence threatens public safety and national interests.
