Makassar (ANTARA) - The Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, visited the mourning family of Muhammad Akbar Basri, a victim who died in a fire during a demonstration at the Makassar's House of Representatives (DPRD) office. Representing the government, Nasaruddin expressed his condolences and hoped that such incidents would never happen again.

"We deeply regret this incident. May Allah grant patience to the family," he said here on Sunday.

Reflecting on recent protests in Makassar and other regions, Nasaruddin, who is a native of South Sulawesi and of Bugis-Makassar descent, urged the public to treat these events as lessons for national growth.

“As members of the South Sulawesi community, let us take this as a learning experience to strengthen our maturity as a nation,” he said.
