Lombok Tengah, NTB (ANTARA) - Over 600 riders and crew members have arrived in Indonesia for the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup (IATC) and World Superbike (WSBK), which will take place at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

"A total of 640 IATC and WSBK crews and riders have arrived in Indonesia," director of strategy and communications at the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), Happy K Harinto, informed on Tuesday.

The crew members and riders participating in the motorcycle racing event will quarantine in Jakarta for three days, he said. They will fly to Lombok after testing negative for COVID-19.

"After they finish the quarantine with a negative result of PCR test, they will go to Lombok," Harinto said.

Meanwhile, the logistics supplies for the motor racing event arrived at Lombok Airport on a Boeing 777 Freighter cargo plane belonging to Qatar Airways, which flew in directly from Doha.

"Liquid logistics will be carried on land transportation routes and will arrive a few days later at Lembar Port," Harinto informed.

Separately, general manager of Indonesian airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I, Lombok International Airport, Nugroho Jati said that one of the largest aircraft in the world, the Boeing 777 Freighter, carrying logistics supplies for the WSBK, has successfully landed at Lombok Airport.

"The unloading process went smoothly. The number of logistics that had arrived was 217 packages with a weight of 68,022 kilograms," Jati informed.

Another Qatar Airways Boeing 777 Freighter (flight number QR8872) is scheduled to arrive at Lombok Airport on Tuesday afternoon from Doha, he said.

"This proves that the new runway and apron at Lombok Airport are capable  of serving large-bodied aircraft, including welcoming the logistics, crew, and spectators for WSBK and MotoGP in 2022," he added.

The IATC or MotoGP Junior racing event will be held on November 12-14, 2021, while the WSBK is scheduled to be held on November 19-21, 2021 at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit Lombok.
