New York (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Tuesday delivered his first address at the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), calling for peaceful conflict resolution and drawing attention to the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza.

Prabowo spoke third in the General Debate, after Brazil and the United States. “I consider it a great honor. Brazil is always first, the US always second. Indonesia being placed third is a sign of respect and appreciation for our country,” he told reporters in New York on Wednesday.

The president underlined Indonesia’s consistent position in supporting peace efforts in various parts of the world, while also highlighting the country’s recent achievements.

“What matters most to us is that we deeply feel the heartbreaking suffering of the people in Gaza. I believe that is the most important,” he said.

Prabowo’s address stressed Indonesia’s stance on promoting dialogue and peaceful solutions to conflicts, particularly in the Middle East.

He noted the UN tradition of speaking order, with Brazil always first and the U.S. second, and described Indonesia’s third slot this year as recognition of its growing role in the international community.

Following his engagement in New York, Prabowo is scheduled to continue his overseas tour with official visits to Canada and the Netherlands, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing Indonesia’s global presence.
