Eighty houses damaged by Mt Marapi's cold lava floods to be repaired

Lubuk Basung, West Sumatra (ANTARA) - Indonesia's National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has disbursed financial aid worth Rp3.72 billion (US$222 thousand) to be used for repairing 80 houses, damaged by the cold lava flooding from Mount Marapi in Agam District, West Sumatra, that happened in May 2024, an official said.The 80 damaged houses are located in Sungai Pua, Ampek Angkek, Canduang, Banuhampu, and Malalak Sub-districts, Head of the Agam Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Budi Perwira Negara said in Lubuk Basung, the capital of Agam District, on Sunday.

The funds would be used to repair 54 severely damaged houses, six houses with moderate damages, and 20 houses with minor damages, he said.

"Every severely damaged house will receive Rp60 million (US$3,584) while one moderately damaged gets Rp30 million (US$1,792), and each of the lightly damaged 15 million (US$896)," he said.

The repair would be carried out immediately with a target of completion in December 2025. The construction works for severely damaged houses would be carried out by the BNPB-recommended partners while the moderately and lightly damaged houses would be repaired by beneficiaries, Negara said.
