Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that the state budget was used to build 1,938 kilometers of toll roads and 4,574 kilometers of non-toll national roads in the last 10 years.
"The state budget supported the provision of raw water and irrigation to support food and energy security," she informed during the "Delivery of the Government's Statement on the Bill on Accountability for the Implementation of the 2023 FY State Budget" here on Thursday.According to her, the state budget was used to build 37 dams and increase power plant capacity by 36.3 gigawatts (GW).
In the health field, the state budget supported the reduction in stunting prevalence from 37.2 percent in 2013 to 21.5 percent in 2023, she said. It also supported people's welfare improvement, as reflected by the reduction in the poverty rate from 11.25 percent in 2014 to 9.36 percent in 2023.
"Extreme poverty rate also declined significantly from 6.18 percent in 2014 to 1.12 percent in 2023," she added.
She further said that for human resources quality improvement, the state budget, through the Educational Endowment Fund, provided scholarships to 45,496 persons in the last ten years, helping them to pursue education at leading universities within and outside the country.
In addition, the state budget served as an important financing instrument for supporting the improvement of Indonesia's image on the international stage through the successful holding of international meetings and events.

The events included the Asian Games, Asian Para Games, and IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings in 2018, G20 events in 2022, and the U-17 World Cup, ASEAN Summit, and MotoGP Mandalika in 2023.
"These achievements are not only the results of the government's work, but also the results of the joint work of House members in carrying out and overseeing development," the minister remarked.
