Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto is planning to make it mandatory for exporters using credit facilities provided by national banks to keep their export proceeds in the banks.
"In the near future, we will require all companies that receive credit from government banks to place the proceeds of their export sales in banks in Indonesia," Prabowo announced during a Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Office in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati will enforce the regulation by next month or March at the latest.
The President described the policy as reasonable, considering that exporters use credit facilities from national banks. So, they must place the profits from their business in banks in Indonesia, he said.

"I think this is reasonable, this makes sense. They are doing their businesses with funds sourced from the Indonesian people, after they succeed in making sales, the proceeds of the sales are reasonable if being put in banks in Indonesia," he added.
In addition, the President ordered law enforcement officers, through the chief of police, the TNI commander, as well as head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), to enforce legal regulations against companies that violate provisions, especially in land issues.

Prabowo emphasized that the government will not give special treatment to companies, especially those given the opportunity to complete their obligations in terms of licensing.
The Head of State further said that the government will reclaim land, especially if it is in a protected forest, in case the company in question does not fulfill its obligations.
"For those who have been given the opportunity many times to complete their obligations and have not done so, the government will carry out its obligations, revoke permits, and reclaim the land," Prabowo warned.
