Praya, Lombok Tengah (ANTARA) - The Central Lombok district government in West Nusa Tenggara Province affirmed that the construction of relocated houses for the residents of Ujung Village affected by the construction of the Mandalika International Circuit was targeted for completion in 2022.

"The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has begun the construction for the special housing program," Head of the Central Lombok District Housing Service, Lalu Alfian, stated on Monday.

Alfian later noted that 120 special houses will be constructed in Ngolang Village, Pujut Sub-district, over an area spanning two hectares.

"No problem is encountered at the construction site. The project is ready to go,” Alfian informed.

The special housing program was provided for residents whose houses are affected by the construction of the Mandalika Circuit. The circuit had been used for the Asian Talent Cup (IATC) and World Superbike (WSBK) 2021 racing events.

The housing will be equipped with several public facilities, such as places of worship and road access to the housing.

Alfian also noted that the work on the housing program for residents affected by the relocation of circuit construction was handled directly by the PUPR Ministry. The contract for the project is carried out on a multi-year basis and is planned to be completed in 2022.

"The design of the special house is also handled directly by the PUPR. Hopefully, it will be completed in 2022, and the residents can start to live in the houses," Alfian remarked.

Earlier, the NTB Regional Police had resolved the land issues around the Mandalika Circuit area.

NTB Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Moh Iqbal, stated that since July 2020, his team had adopted a humanistic approach to address the matter of land acquisition around the Mandalika Circuit.

The Mandalika International Circuit, with a length of 4.3 kilometers and 17 bends, will host the MotoGP event in March 2022. In addition, the circuit, located in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) tourism destination, will continue to host the IATC and WSBK 2022 racing events.
