President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to send off 29 athletes who will represent Indonesia at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics in Jakarta on Wednesday (July 10), Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo stated.
"Yes, the schedule (of the send-off) is being arranged," he remarked after attending a meeting on the tourism fund at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Monday.
Ariotedjo highlighted that Team Indonesia for this year's Olympics is the biggest in the past two decades since the 2004 Athens Olympics when the team had 38 athletes. The minister also underlined that this year, Indonesia will make its inaugural appearances in some sports.
"Some of our athletes have secured a spot in sports that we have never competed in at previous Olympics. God willing, we will make history. I am hoping for the public's support," he stated.
