VP Gibran reviews readiness of Bandung toll road for holidays

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka inspected the Gedebage Toll Gate KM 149 in Bandung, West Java, on Friday to ensure the readiness of infrastructure to support people's travel during the Christmas and New Year holiday period.The inspection was carried out as a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto's directive to ensure preparations for the year-end holiday so that it can run smoothly.

"In the last (limited) meeting, we (decided to) prepare several accesses so that the Christmas and New Year holiday can run well, including the opening of several toll roads temporarily," Gibran informed in a statement issued by the VP secretariat here on Friday.

He reviewed the Gedebage Toll Gate KM 149 in Bandung to check its readiness as the toll gate has just been reopened after undergoing maintenance.

The toll gate, which is part of the Bandung Intra Urban Toll Road (BIUTR) network and the Gedebage-Tasikmalaya-Cilacap (Getaci) Toll Road, has a strategic function.

It serves as a link between West Java and Central Java. It also supports the mobility of the Whoosh high-speed train (KCIC) passengers. The toll gate's reconstruction was carried out from August to December 2024 with an investment of Rp74.3 billion, or around US$4.5 million.

The re-opening of the toll gate is expected to improve accessibility and connectivity to KCIC Tegalluar Station, GBLA Stadium, and Al-Jabbar Grand Mosque. Seeing its strategic function, VP Gibran asked the local government and the toll road infrastructure manager to continue to monitor the situation in the field during the year-end holiday period.

He also advised all parties to intensively coordinate traffic management to handle increasing vehicle volumes.
